Communion Prayer

A Powerful Christian Prayer to Receive the Life of Christ Through Communion.

If you are searching for a communion prayer, a Christian prayer for the Lord’s Supper, or a prayer to receive the life of Christ, this Scripture based prayer is designed to help you remember the sacrifice of Jesus and receive the life of the new covenant.

Communion is more than a ritual. It is a sacred moment of union with Christ. When believers take the bread and the cup, they remember the body that was broken and the blood that was shed for the forgiveness of sins and the restoration of our relationship with God.

This prayer will help you approach the Lord’s table with reverence, repentance, faith, and gratitude as you receive the life of Christ through the covenant of His blood.

You can pray this during personal communion, during church communion, or anytime you want to remember the sacrifice of Jesus and draw near to God.

Confession, Repentance, and Preparation

Father God, I come before You in humility and gratitude.

Search my heart and reveal anything within me that is not pleasing to You. I confess and repent of every sin, compromise, pride, or unbelief that would hinder my fellowship with You.

According to 1 John 1:9, I thank You that when I confess my sins You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

By the blood of Jesus, I receive cleansing in my spirit, my soul, and my mind. Wash me completely and prepare my heart to receive the life of Christ through communion.

Lord, I approach Your table with reverence and faith, remembering the sacrifice of Your Son.

Remembering the Body of Christ

Lord Jesus, I remember that Your body was broken for me.

You bore the punishment that belonged to me. You carried my sin, my shame, and my brokenness upon the cross.

As I receive this bread, I remember Your suffering and Your love.

Your Word declares in Isaiah 53 that by Your stripes we are healed. I receive Your healing, restoration, and strength into every part of my body and life.

Jesus, thank You for giving Your body so that I could be made whole.

I receive Your life now.

Receiving the Blood of the Covenant

Lord Jesus, I remember that Your blood was poured out for the forgiveness of sins.

Your blood established a new covenant between God and humanity. Through Your sacrifice, I have been brought near to the Father.

Your blood speaks a better word than condemnation, shame, or accusation.

It declares forgiveness.
It declares redemption.
It declares that I belong to God.

As I receive this cup, I thank You that Your blood has washed me clean and restored my relationship with the Father.

Thank You for the covenant of grace.

Entering Union with Christ

Jesus, You said in John 6:56 that whoever eats Your flesh and drinks Your blood remains in You, and You remain in them.

Right now I receive the reality of that union.

Your life flows through me.
Your Spirit fills me.
Your presence dwells within me.

I declare that I am a temple of the Holy Spirit according to 1 Corinthians 3:16.

Through Christ I have access to the Father and I enter boldly into Your presence according to Hebrews 10:19.

Let the life of Christ flow through every part of my being.

Anchoring Scriptures and Declarations

I stand on Luke 22:19 where Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.”

I stand on 1 Corinthians 11:26 declaring that whenever we eat this bread and drink this cup we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

I stand on Hebrews 10:19 declaring that through the blood of Jesus I have bold access to the Holy of Holies.

I stand on John 6:56 that whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood abides in Him and He in them.

I declare that the life of Christ flows through me by the power of the new covenant.

Closing Prayer

Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus.

Thank You for His body that was broken and His blood that was shed so that I could be forgiven, restored, and brought near to You.

I receive the life of Christ through this communion.

Let the power of the new covenant transform my life and draw me deeper into fellowship with You.

I honor You, I worship You, and I thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Amen.
